Even if you wanted to, it’s basically impossible to ignore social media today. According to the Pew Center for Research, 74 percent of online adults have at least one social networking profile. The people posting, tweeting, and instagramming their lives are also the same people applying for your open positions.


While social media can be a great way to connect with talent personally, invite great candidates to a video interview, and evaluate relevant skills, it’s also a smart tool for helping you avoid bad apples. In fact a CareerBuilder survey found two in five employers had discovered something posted to social media which convinced them to go in another direction with a candidate.
