The US Secret Service will monitor all messages sent over Twitter, Facebook and other social media sites in an effort to thwart possible threats during the Super Bowl.

The Secret Service will carry out open source monitoring of social media for “situational awareness” as part of an extensive security operation for the Sunday game between the New English Patriots and Seattle Seahawks, the Department of Homeland Security says.
