If you are active on social media, you know it can be a breeding ground for more than cat videos or invitations to play Candy Crush.


Emboldened by what they see as the power of anonymity, it’s not unusual to see trolls send threats, insults and the worst kind of personal attacks to strangers, employers or anyone else who happens to be in the cyber crosshairs on a given day.


Most of them believe they’re getting away with something clever. These posts have the potential for global impact, though. Twitter claims to have 288 million active users who send out 500 million tweets per day. Facebook has 1.35 billion active users every month.
