HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) – While it may be distracting at the dinner table, spending time on Facebook is actually helping out local police departments.
He was a wanted man. Police say he shot at them, tried to burglarize a home and was considered armed and dangerous.
That’s when the Huber Heights Police Division decided to post Matthew Short’s picture on Facebook. It’s a post police say could very well have helped in his capture last month.
“We’ve caught some major individuals who have committed some serious heinous crimes and we’ve been able to get them behind bars where they belong relatively quickly,” said Sgt. Charles Taylor with the Huber Heights Police Division.
Huber Heights Police Division is starting to use social media more and more to solve crimes like this.
“I believe that in general our Chief is a big proponent of getting as much information out as possible to the public which helps us do our job more effectively.”
