As rabid fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead know, the death of a major character was in store for last night’s midseason finale, and the show didn’t disappoint. Don’t worry – no major spoilers ahead.
The Walking Dead is a social media favorite, consistently ranking at the top of Nielsen Twitter TV Ratings Weekly Top Ten lists and inspiring legions of fans to live Tweet the show each week. Fizziology, which tracks feeds from the big five of social media (Twitter, Facebook, blogs, Instagram, and Tumblr) collects, scores and analyzes the social conversation to provide “meaningful business intelligence.” Their analysis shows that the midseason finale, “Coda,” drove extremely high social volume for a cable show. With 572,056 mentions, “Coda” saw 238 percent more mentions than last week’s episode.
