eBay Prevents Sellers from Putting Items on Sale

eBay sellers say they are unable to put items on sale using the Markdown Manager feature. “Taking away store sellers’ rights to put their own items on sale is an unacceptable, destructive and short sighted eBay policy,” an irate seller wrote on the eBay boards. “It will prompt even more sellers to join the exodus from eBay to other sites.”

The problem was reported on Ecommerce EKG on October 2: “Markdown manager not working properly (again) – when choosing items, items that are currently marked down are not shown as such. Also, when clicking the “# of Listings” column on an existing sale, no items are shown as being marked down in that sale.” Others responded that they were unable to use Markdown Manger for listings where they chose to allow Best Offers.

Some sellers thought the problem was a glitch, others believed it was a new policy eBay had failed to announce.
